Welcome to the new school year!. If you have a child attending Olympia Heights Elementary, congratulations!. We are once again an "A" school. This is my second year as the Principal of this beautiful school. As I begin my seventh year as Principal I feel blessed to have such a wonderful staff.

Last year overall student attendance improved. Congratulations!. This year we will strive to do even better. Special attention will be given to the primary grades. Student tardies will be monitored on a weekly basis.

In order for students to be successful, they must be able to read well. Our goal is to have all students read at grade level or better. In Kindergarten and grade one the reading program must include a strong dose of phonics. In addition to the two hour block of reading, independent reading must take place on a daily basis. Please make sure your child reads every night for at least 30 minutes.

Remember, this is "our" school; I invite all of our parents to make a commitment to get involved with the PTA and your child's classroom activities. Keep good communication with your child's teachers and administrators. I look forward along with my Assistant Principal, Ms. Guerra, to work with all of you, and remember, "Together we can make a difference!". Let's work together for a productive and rewarding school year!

¡Bienvenidos al nuevo año escolar! Si usted tiene un niño(a) en Olympia Heights, ¡felicitaciones! Una vez mas somos una escuela clasificada "A". Este es mi segundo año como directora de esta bella escuela. Al comenzar mi séptimo año de directora me siento bendecida al tener una facultad tan maravillosa.

El año pasado la assistencia mejoró notablemente.¡ Los felicito! Este año trataremos de mejorar aún más. Tomaremos un interés especial en los grados primarios. Las llegadas tardes serán monitoriadas semanalmente.

Para que los niños sean exitosos, deben leer bien. Nuestra meta es que todos los estudiantes lean a nivel de grado o mejor. En kindergarten y en el primer grado el programa debe ser fonético. Además de dos horas de lectura corrida, lectura independiente debe de ocurrir diariamente. Por favor asegurence de que su niño(a) lea todas las noches por un mínimo de 30 minutos.

Recuerden que esta es "nuestra" escuela; los invito a comprometerse e involucrarse en las actividades de la Associación de Padres y Maestros, (P.T.A.) y en las actividades del aula de sus hijos. Mantengan buena comunicación con sus administradores y maestros. Espero que en unión de mi Sub-directora, la Srta. Guerra, podamos trabajar con todos ustedes, y recuerden que "Juntos podemos hacer la diferencia!" Trabajemos juntos para un año escolar productivo y satisfactorio!
